Incidentally #1: Re books, I've finished the second edition of The Empirical Photographer, and it includes the "chronicle of childhood" article that Michael so kindly mentions in the comments to the post below. Unfortunately, I've been stuck with a "font not embedded" error from Lulu, despite the fact that all fonts are supposedly properly embedded (and checked and rechecked), so I'm kind of stuck. I'd work on it, if I knew what to do....

Incidentally #2: So many people said nice things about the "Wallpaper" shot from a few days ago that it is now officially included in my Four States project. It's now "Indiana #1." And thanks for the encouragement!

As for your font not embedded problem, I have a gut instinct it may be the result of different versions of the same font (either the result of creating the book on different computers i.e. newer font file revisions) or else using the 'same font' on different platforms.

Good luck determining if I'm right.

that's great about 'Wallpaper'. The more i see it the more i like it. The colors are sublime and the light is as flat as the bed spread. It's all so mute and aching for words. Like holding one's breath. A pause in whatever action is going on beyond those serene walls. It's a photo that a viewer can really feel. A good choice imo.

With an interesting photograph, everyone's reaction is different. My mom passed away at my home March 9th, so I've been grieving, and an empty bed is what's left of my mom, upstairs.

In some instances, the observer can elevate an excellent photograph beyond anything the artist intended.
