Juan Buhler and John Sexton in B&WP

I just want to take a moment to recommend issue #68 of Black & White Photography magazine (January 2007). There's lots to recommend. It is, first of all, the first launch of a comprehensive redesign, which makes the magazine friendlier and less fussy. Regular readers of this blog know I'm a fan of Juan Buhler's Water Molotov, and in this issue I wrote an article about Juan's work. I must say that the elves did a fine job with the repro of Juan's portfolio; however often I've seen them on screen, it's really nice to see a few of them on paper. Juan's day job is in computer animation at Pixar; he's hard at work on Pixar's upcoming film. How he has the time and energy for such a stellar second career as a street photographer is beyond my humble ken.

Black & White Photography is readily available in the U.K. In the U.S., check Barnes & Noble, which usually carries it. Subscriptions on this side of the Atlantic (and presumably elsewhere in the world) are pretty "dear," as our cousins say, but worth it. It's a nice magazine.

Black and White mag is also sold at Borders plus at the small hole in the wall magazine stand down the street from me. It is not hard to find here in San Francisco. Nice magazine.

I wish it was readily available Mike but it looks like I'm going to have to renew my subscription (which expired with the Jan. issue).
Subscribers get a special plain front cover without all the headlines, quite a shocking double take when I saw James Dean surrounded by all those words!
Cheers, Robin
Congrats to Juan! I've the pleasure to meet him and to go shooting with him here in Buenos Aires twice in the last couple of years.
He's a really nice guy, very modest, and not aware, I think, of his real level as a street photographer (VERY high).
If you like seeing Juan's photos in print be sure to also buy one or more of his books via Lulu :)
Mike, B&WP being UK-based made me wonder about Ed Buziak and what he's been doing, and if he's still in the magazine business? I have all my Darkroom User mags neatly and chronologically stored. It's still fun to go back and read some of the articles.
I apologize for thread drift.
Cudos to Juan! I am glad I have a copy of his first book ;-).
