If you listen to the audio portion, the narrator states that standing next to the U.S. Marine was an Iraqi soldier. What did the Iraqi soldier due when the U.S. Marine was shot? Why, he ran away of course!! What a mess....

That was VERY intense and it was an excellent picture story. I am always amazed on how a journalist can be in the midst of a situation like that and can continue to make powerful images... I wonder how often when they get back to the hotel they wonder why they do it... In the end I suppose it is to bring the world these power images. Excellent!

Nice history, good pictures. Joao Silva was a member of South Africa's Bang Bang Club, so he knows what bullets are about...

Amazing. I can't help but wondering, if that man had died, what would he have died for?

Just in case those of us here in the good old USA needed any more incentive to go out and vote tomorrow....

Very compelling images and moving commentary.
