New SanDisk Extreme IV

New SanDisk Extreme IV cards succeed Extreme III as the world's fastest. Looks like we'd better update our endorsement.

After 80x I stopped noticing a difference.

It certainly is dependent on the maximum transfer speed that a particular camera/flash combination will support.

I find the speed tests on Rob Galbraith's site very helpful. It's a good thing that they went to the trouble to test so many cards with so many cameras. If you don't have any of the cameras tested then it really can't help you, unfortunately.

I would agree with Rob, also, that differences among the top 10% or so are not very noticeable.

I myself endorse the Sandisk folks, mainly becuase I had a very positive experience with them after a card failure. After a brief phone conversation, they emailed me a UPS label to return the faulty card, and shipped me an even better one (because they were no longer making the one I had that failed), along with a new lifetime guarantee.

What a breath of fresh air, to deal with a company like that in this day and age.
