DSLR Price Watch
This will be old (a few days, anyway) news for some, but I think it's a milestone worth noting nonetheless: Pentax has introduced a $100 rebate on the *ist DL, driving the price of the body to less than $350.

That's amazing.
If you consider all the extra electronics included in a digital camera, not to mention the processing savings, this means that digital is now cheaper than film.
Hmm...about the same price as an Olympus E-1 then...
This certainly looks like a bargain for anyone looking to get a good entry level dslr very economically. Heck, this brings the price on par with many p&s cameras.
I hate to wear the black cap but I also can't shake the feeling that Pentax will be one of the next camera manufacturers to exit the photo business.
That is ridiculously cheap, specially when combined with the 40mm f/2.8 Limited pancake for the utmost in compactness.
Sounds good until you look at UK prices and they swap the $ for a £ - £350 over here :O(
